They really are young adults
Published: Sunday, Nov 8, 2009 on 10:45 IST
Mihika Antonia Dean aged 9 years studying in class 4 in Greenwood High.

There’s only one thing Mihika would like to change about her parents. “I want them to treat me like an equal. And I wish they would let me be more independent — say about going out with friends, sleepovers at their houses etc,” she says. Otherwise, she’s in her perfect spot. Her father Dean Mathew, an IT professional, and writer mother get her what she wants — “as long as it isn’t anything stupid,” she says.

Her ideal Children’s Day would be if she turned into Mowgli (and probably ran wild in some jungle).

To her, Children’s Day does not mean much. “It’s like any other day. When I am an adult, every day will be an adult day. Now that I am a child, every day is a child’s day,” she says with impeccable logic. Children’s Day may have been created to remind adults that there are children around somewhere, she adds.

Mihika likes TV — “I watch it not too much, nor too less” — but she prefers surfing the Internet over being glued to the television.

Mihika aims To be a veterinary doctor. Much to her dismay, her pet fish Clementine  died recently. “I love animals and I’m a vegetarian by choice. I want every person on earth to be vegetarian,” she says.
