St Mark's Cathedral: Originally raised in 1808 and enlarged in 1901, a notice in a glass case at the back of the church says it was one of the most unattractive buildings ever erected, "resembling a Byrant and Mays matchbox". After being damaged by fire on February 17, 1923 it reopened on Aug 7, 1927 and was consecrated in 1947 as St Mark's Cathedral.
