St Patrick's Church: The second oldest Catholic Church, at 150 years, it was built for Irish soldiers under the initiative of Fr Gailhot and Fr Chevalier who were military chaplains. The foundation was laid in July 1841. It was consecrated under the title St Patrick as a cathedral on November 12, 1899. Lady Bowring's tomb is in the church.
