A 23-year-old staff nurse of a private hospital died as she fell off a bike in front of the Freedom Park on Sheshadri Road. A lorry ran over her, killing her on the spot.
Police said that Taradevi, who hails from Hassan, had been working in Bangalore for two years, at the Sagar Apollo Hospital.

At around 11.45 on Friday morning, she was riding pillion as her boyfriend Ashok rode the bike. At Anand Rao Circle, a lorry was overtaking them from the right. As a pedestrian crossed the road, the driver of the lorry swerved to avoid him.

Ashok, Taradevi’s boyfriend, did not anticipate the swerving of the lorry—his bike rammed into the lorry, and Taradevi was thrown off by the impact. In a matter of seconds, the lorry ran over Taradevi’s head. Police arrested the driver of the lorry and Taradevi’s body was taken to Victoria Hospital. Police have informed her parents. Taradevi and Ashok were to get married in a month’s time.
