On September 13, as the World Economic Forum (WEF) begins in Tianjin, China, chief minister BS Yeddyurappa will be there with a business delegation of about 35 people, comprising captains of industry, senior bureaucrats and political leaders.
The WEF will see the convergence of corporate giants and heads of nations from across the world in China. The WEF is expected to formulate strategies to put economies across the world on the fast track, and strike new deals to consolidate corporate empires.
Yeddyurappa’s particular focus will be to replicate China’s success in mass rapid transit systems and special economic zones (SEZs) for computer and electronic hardware. He has been greatly inspired by the giant strides China has made in raising its urban infrastructure to global standards.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) hardware sector is another top priority. “Keeping this in mind, we are visiting the Tianjin SEZ and the Hi-Tech Industrial Park. China and Taiwan have emerged as global giants in computer and electronics hardware manufacturing. Bangalore has tremendous potential to emerge as the IT hardware industrial hub of the world,” large and medium industries minister Murugesh Nirani said.
Yeddyurappa has also ensured an exclusive one-on-one meeting with Doan Trung Tri, chief executive officer, SemiLED Corporation, the global giant in manufacture of computer chips and energy-efficient LED lamps. The meeting is significant as the state government plans the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) project near Devanahalli, which will have an electronic and computer hardware park.
