Former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa was shifted to Parappana Agrahara Central Jail from Victoria Hospital on Wednesday morning. Yeddyurappa voluntarily sought to be discharged from hospital.
Furthermore, comments by senior BJP leader LK Advani about corruption and its impact on the state unit is a major factor behind Yeddyurappa’s decision to return to jail. But BJP leaders said media reports led a ‘hurt’ Yeddyurappa to take the decision. Housing minister V Somanna said: “Yeddyurappa was hurt by media reports and he wanted to return to the jail.”
On Wednesday, Yeddyurappa was shifted to jail on a stretcher; he was sleeping and he wasn’t shielded by blankets nor was he using one to cover himself. Dr Nataraj of Victoria Hospital said:
“The sodium level in Yeddyurappa’s blood is low. He also has breathing problems, blood pressure, diabetes and backache. But Yeddyurappa insisted he should be discharged.”
Yeddyurappa’s family members and some aides stayed in the hospital overnight. V Somanna, CP Yogeshwar and Renukacharya met him on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. They said he told them that he is hurt and wanted to return the jail as a common prisoner.
