What ails former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa? As the cases against him in courts over various scandals are picking up pace, Yeddyurappa too is getting busy shuttling between hospitals.

Early on Monday morning, the former chief minister was spotted entering the Healthcare Global (HCG) hospital on Devanga Sangha Hostel Road. Yeddyurappa arrived at the cancer hospital at 5.45am, straight from Sagar Hospital where he had been admitted early on Saturday. The former chief minister, who was accompanied by his two daughters, remained in the hospital till 10am.

Sources from HCG, however, said that the former chief minister was in the hospital not for any cancer-related tests but for cardiology screening. “Since he showed certain stress symptoms, he underwent myocardial perfusion scan, as a precautionary measure. The scan was to check whether the heart muscles were getting adequate blood flow,” said the sources.

Myocardial perfusion scan helps in evaluating several heart conditions including coronary artery disease, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and myocardial wall motion abnormalities. HCG is one of the few hospitals in the city to have this facility.

“While he apparently looks healthy, we have to wait for the reports to come which will be available in a day or two,” informed the source.

Yeddyurappa’s visit to the cancer hospital came within 48 hours of doctors examining him at Sagar Hospital saying that the former chief minister had developed neurological problems which required evaluation. Reports quoting hospital sources had also said that Yeddyurappa woke up on Friday night and could not recall where he was.

On Saturday afternoon, Yeddyurappa was admitted to Sagar Hospital, for the second time this month. He underwent a series of tests in the hospital. “Till now, no significant neurological problem has been diagnosed. However, he has been prescribed certain precautionary medicines,” said Dr Jagdeesh Chandra, consultant, general medicines, Sagar Hospital and doctor treating Yeddyurappa. An MRI scan has been performed on Yeddyurappa’s brain and the report is expected on Tuesday.

Nine days ago, Yeddyurappa had been admitted to Sagar Hospital for routine check-up. “A series of tests were performed on him. Barring a few minor complaints, nothing alarming has been revealed,” Dr Jagdeesh added.

Yeddyurappa is suffering from hypertension and diabetes for a long time now and is under medication. The parameters of blood sugar and blood pressure are under control, confirmed the treating doctor.

The former chief minister is apparently worried about his health.

But doctors don’t see any alarming health problem as of now. The politician, however, is complaining of excessive stress taking a toll on his health. Doctors too confirmed that Yeddyurappa had been showing symptoms of excessive stress in the last few days.
