Chief minister BS Yeddyurappa on Wednesday ruled out the possibility of his party going in for mid-term polls and said his government would complete its five-year term.

Denying the opposition claims that the early presentation of the state budget and the many sops for agricultural sector pointed at mid-term polls, Yeddyurappa said in the assembly that the “budget is not a political gimmick and an election stunt. We are concerned about development”.
Replying to the debate on the budget, he said, “On May 30, the BJP will complete three years in power and we will continue for our remaining term too. There is no question of early polls.”

Intervening, Congress MLA V Srinivasa Prasad said, “We don’t want early elections.”

“My party members too are not interested in going in for early elections. Let us work for the development of the state and then think on elections,” Yeddyurappa said.

Yeddyurappa said the Congress and JD(S) should sit in the opposition for next 10 years and learn the art of ruling. “All these days, you have enjoyed the fruits of power and forgotten the development of the state. Now you watch the development works sitting in the opposition benches,” he explained.

I’ll rein in my anger: CM
Admitting that he loses his temper too often, the chief minister said: “But compared to earlier days, I have controlled my anger to a great extent. I know I have to gain more control over my anger and our party members too are expecting it. I will do so.”

Dwelling on industrial growth, the chief minister said, “To attract investments, we conducted the Global Investors Meet last year. But opposition leader

Siddaramaiah did not come to the meet because he was angry with BJP. Henceforth, I will not allow Siddaramaiah to get angry.”

“First you should control your anger and then talk about mine,” Siddaramaiah said.

Not satisfied by the chief minister’s reply, Congress and JD(S) members walked out of the house.
