Former chief ministers BS Yeddyurappa and HD Kumaraswamy appeared at the Lok Ayukta special court on Saturday. The court had on August 8 issued summons to Yeddyurappa and his sons and son-in-law to appear before the bench regarding the third private complaint filed by advocate Sirajin Basha.

The complaint pertains to alleged illegal land denotifications at Geddalahalli, Arakere and Devarachikanehalli, and complaint four alleges of denotification of lands at Uttarahalli, Agara, Anekal.
The court will decide if bail should be granted to Yeddyurappa on October 3.

The arguments for the fourth complaint concluded on Saturday and the judge said that the orders will be pronounced on October 3.

All accused in the fourth complaint were present in the court on Saturday morning, except Yeddyurappa and his son Raghavendra.
When the case came up for hearing, the counsel for Yeddyurappa informed the court that the duo was held up at Shimoga and will come to the court at 3pm and they did.

The counsel for complainant Sirajin Basha argued that though it is not wrong for the kith and kin of Yeddyurappa to run the business and flourish, but they do not have the right to become remarkable businessmen when their father becomes a deputy chief minister.
The counsel further pointed out that his relatives are interested in the Davalgiri properties.

However, so far, there are no documents to show what kind of work is on in Davalgiri properties. All their companies flourished only after Yeddyurappa became the deputy chief minister. Some companies were start-ups that were later absorbed by his kith and kin.

The counsel lauded Basha’s efforts and said that the lawyer had gone to the extent of getting RTI details to expose the kith and the kin of the former CM. “He has done a stupendous job and if they call him a barefoot lawyer, we think there should be more such lawyers,” he said.
