Shocked residents of Wilson Garden area gathered near the drain on BTS Road around 10.30pm on Thursday to take a look at the headless and handless body of a woman in her forties.
Police, who arrived at the scene around 11pm, said the body was cut into pieces by someone who had some knowledge of surgery. Since the victim’s head was missing, she was not yet identified.

A massive hunt has been launched to track the assailants. “We found three pieces of limbs at one place in the drain while the torso was found at a little distance away early on Friday,” said inspector SS Kashi of Wilson Garden police station.

He said the body might have been dumped there by assailants just two days ago as there was no sign of decomposition yet. “This might have been done by a surgical expert,” he said confirming that the severing of the body was done by someone with experience. The body parts were sent to the forensic department of Victoria Hospital, police said.

In another incident, a 76-year-old woman was found smothered to death in her house in Srinidhi Layout off Kanakapura Road in Subramanyapura police station limits on Friday afternoon.

The woman was living alone in her house that stood on a one-and-half acre land. “She is the second wife of Gundu Rao and has four sons. The land was restored to the family from acquisition by the Bangalore Development Authority. Her sons, husband and the first wife were living separately in seven sheds turned into houses. We suspect some rag pickers’ hand in the murder,” assistant commissioner of police (Banashankari sub-division) HT Ramesh said.

Her gold jewellery worth about Rs2 lakh was missing from the almirah inside the house, Ramesh said.

He ruled out family dispute over property as the cause of the murder although the house and land could together fetch crores of rupees at today’s market price.

Subramanyapura police have launched a massive hunt for the killers.
