A 42- year-old woman was murdered by four persons in her house in Srinvasa Reddy Layout in Ramamurthynagar police station limits on Monday afternoon.

Nirmala was in the kitchen when four persons entered her house and hit her on the head with rods. At the time of the incident, Nirmala’s mother Lalithamma was in the bathroom, and by the time she came out, the miscreants fled.

Lalithamma found Nirmala unconscious and took her to the a nearby hospital, where she was declared brought dead. “It looks like murder for gain as the miscreants fled with her gold chain. But we are investigating the case to ascertain the exact reason for murder,” joint commissioner of police for crime (East) B Dayananda said.

The police said Nirmala was married to Bhaskar, a plumber, and the couple has a daughter and a son. Some years ago, she separated from her husband. She was dating another man,
whom she later started blackmailing.

The police suspect her paramour could have hired killers to eliminate her. “We also suspect her husband. We will question all of them to know why exactly she was murdered and who are all behind it,” an officer said. The body was shifted to the Victoria Hospital for postmortem.
