Witnesses heard in church attack case

The Justice Somashekar Commission, inquiring into the Church attack cases in Mangalore and Udupi, on Tuesday examined five appeals and as many witnesses from Bajpe and Padua areas of Mangalore.

According to secretary of the Commission, Vidyashankar, the petitioners have responded and the appeals have been coming in copious volumes.

In one of the petitions in the case of attack on Bajpe church, the petitioners told the commission that the miscreants had tried to attack the priest’s house and smashed the glass panes. Their intention was to attack the priests, the petitioners pointed out.

The CoD team also held investigations in the case of the suicide of a minor girl in Kinnigoli. It visited the house of Jaya Moolya Elinje at Kinnigoli and took the statement of Moolya.

She saidher daughter and her friend were not beaten up by anybody as reported in a section of the media.She was in good health when she was brought to the house from the police station.
