When S Anasuya, the State Bank of Mysore employee who was killed by the security guard of her apartment in Sheshadripuram on Friday, was bleeding profusely and crying for help, shocked and scared neighbours did little to rescue the 36-year-old woman.
Even though immediate medical aid to Anasuya was called for, neighbours preferred to inform the police. The woman was already dead when the police reached the spot. Policemen, who rushed to the crime spot in Polo Garden apartment in Sheshadripuram, said that Anasuya could have been saved had she been shifted to the hospital.

The security guard, identified as Ashraf, 26, killed Anasuya in the apartment’s lift. Instead of going to the third floor, where Anasuya’s house was situated, the lift came down to the ground floor. Neighbours heard Anasuya scream for help, but nobody came forward to rescue her. With fear evident in his face, Ashraf came out of the lift. However, neighbours could not muster enough courage to nab the culprit.

Raveendra, a resident, told police that he did not try to stop Ashraf as he had knife in his hand. Combined reaction of fear and shock gripped the residents when blood flew from the lift. The fact that they came across the other side of Ashraf, also added to the shock.

“Ashraf walked out of the apartment like a king walking after winning a battle,” said a resident.
