Activists of Sri Rama Sene seem to be lying low this Valentine’s Day. The group headed by Pramod Muthalik haven’t created trouble so far.But the Rama Sene chief has stated that they will take out a non-violent protest.
The group has already written to schools, colleges, and hotels requesting them not to conduct any celebrations. “It is because of occasions like Valentine’s Days that the drug mafia and sex mafia are rising,” he said.
He opined that the group has not been very active in Bangalore, but they will continue with their work in places such as Mysore, Davengere, Mangalore, Belgaum, and Bijapur. In these places, the Rama Sene activists have put up posters saying Valentine’s Day must be banned.
“When people don’t even take part in Independence Day celebrations, why should they observe Valentine’s Day?” he reasoned.
“In Karnataka, we have created awareness about the meaninglessness of celebrating the day to an extent of 40 %,” he explained.
“I am not against love. I am just against observing a day for this. While some people may be celebrating it as universal love, it does not make sense because it is just an excuse for celebration,” he said. MNCs and hotels also cash in on the occasions, and not only are they using it as a marketing tactics, but they also exploit girls, he said.
