Two persons were injured, including one seriously, in a mishap involving a chariot which was being pulled during an annual car festival in the famous Mukambika temple in Kollur in Udupi district, police said.

Udupi district superintendent of police Pravin Madhukar Pawar told PTI by telephone that the two injured have been identified as Haridas and Babu, both from Kerala.

Both suffered leg fracture as the chariot was being pulled. While Haridas is out of danger, the condition of Babu is 'very serious.'

About 3,000 devotees had gathered for the festival at the temple town of Kollur, some 85 km from the district headquarters town of Udupi.
