Tight security for Eid-Milad in Bangalore

The city police have made elaborate security arrangements for the Eid-Milad processions on Wednesday.

Besides 18,000 city police personnel, the city armed reserve and Karnataka State Reserve Police platoons too would be deployed, said.

T Sunil Kumar, assistant commissioner of police (law and order). He said the men would be deployed at Shivajinagar, Tannery Road, Frazer Town, KR Market, JJ Nagar, Chamarajpet, Tilaknagar, Mico Layout and other areas considered to be sensitive.

The three processions, scheduled to start from Shivajinagar, Cottonpet and Neelasandra around 2 pm, would culminate at a religious meeting in the YMCA Ground. More than 30,000 are expected to take part in the processions.

Meanwhile, the city traffic police said vehicular traffic on JC Road, Raja Ram Mohan Roy Road, KB Road, Devanga Road and Mallya Hospital Road would be affected due to the processions.

Nrupatunga Road from KR Circle to Police Corner would be out of bounds for vehicles. Parking has been banned on the stretch between 2pm and 9pm. Vehicles users can use alternative road from inside the Cubbon Park. Those vehicles can enter the Cubbon Park at KR Circle and then move towards Siddalingaiah circle, Malya Hospital Road and RRMR Road and then towards KR Market, Jayanagar, Hosur Road, Kanakapur Road, Banashankari areas.

The traffic police will be deployed on the roads where the procession move to avoid the traffic jams on the road.
