A Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) employee died after her two-wheeler was hit by an unidentified vehicle from the rear on Tuesday morning.
Identifying the deceased as Simi S Pillai (34), police said that the accident occurred around 8.30 am on Old Madras Road. The victim was heading to her office in Whitefield at the time.
Stating that the vehicle sped away from the spot after hitting Pillai’s bike, police said that she lay bleeding on the road until some colleagues from TCS chanced upon her. Though they admitted her to the intensive care unit of the Chinmaya Mission Hospital in Indiranagar, she was declared dead around 10 am.
A native of Nedumangad in Thiruvananthapuram, Pillai was staying in Benson Town with her 11-year-old daughter. “Her husband, Satish Kumar, works with a private firm in Dubai,” a police officer said, adding that a complaint was filed at the Indiranagar police station by her cousin, Sanjay.
In another incident, a pre-university student died after being hit by a BMTC bus at Jalahalli Cross, near Peenya, on Tuesday morning. The deceased was identified as Vasant Kumar S, a second PU student of Vivekananda PU College in Rajajinagar.
The incident occurred around 8.30 am, while Kumar was waiting for a bus to Ayyappa temple in Jalahalli along with his family.
According to sources, he saw two buses halt at the bus stop.When he went to check the destination of the first bus, Kumar realised that his family had already entered the one behind it. Even as the student hurriedly tried to get off the vehicle, he fell onto the road – coming under the wheels of the very bus that his family members had boarded. Kumar, who suffered severe head injuries, died instantly.
