KR Puram tahsildar Shivakumar CL on Tuesday said he visited the illegal filter sand unit at Geddalahalli but could not find anyone at the spot.
DNA on February 7 published a report on the filter sand mafia that had been busy for over four months. It had also mentioned that Shivakumar had seized the vehicles used to transport filtered sand but released them when a powerful politician directed him to do so two months ago.
However, the residents of Geddalahalli suspect Shivakumar.
They question the delay in visiting the spot despite news appearing in a newspaper about the filter sand unit a week ago. “What is the use of Shivakumar visiting the spot now? He visited the spot as per his convenience and the people involved in filter sand business were given sufficient time to vacate the spot,” said a resident on condition of anonymity. Meanwhile, G Prabhakar, circle inspector, Hennur police station, said there was no information about the tahsildar visiting Geddalahalli.
“He has not informed me about visiting the spot. I have also not received any complaint from him,’’ said Prabhakar.
