Over 200 students of class 6th to 10th, Cambridge School, Krishnarajapuram, in collaboration with the Children's Movement for Civic Awareness [CMCA] took out a rally to spread awareness among people staying at the school’s neighbourhood, urging them to be active and responsible citizens.
The rally, which was flagged off by Heera, joint commissioner, East zone, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), DK Mohan, chairman, Cambridge School of Institutes and Esther Pillai, principal, Cambridge School, had children visiting the school neighbourhood, shouting slogans and holding placards on various civic issues and stressed the need for all to become active citizens.
Heera, said, “I am very happy to be part of this special event organised by students to build awareness about civic issues in the neighbourhood. They are the civic ambassadors of our community. This is in line with the Green Ambassador programme conducted by the BBMP where students are invited to take part in creating awareness about environment protection and management of solid waste.”
‘Vote for my sake’ and ‘Make the government work for us’ were a few prominent messages on the placards. Along with it, children distributed pamphlets containing the helpline numbers of various civic agencies and requested citizens to make use of it to get problems in their neighbourhood fixed.
