A huge fan of Apple products, Siddharth Bahuja, a system’s engineer, visited the iStore on MG Road, in remembrance of Jobs. “After owning so many Apple products, I thought that I should at least visit the story today [Thursday],” he said.

With Jobs having created such a huge customer base, Bahuja hopes that the products will remain the same. However, he suspects that the profit margins may reduce.

“Jobs had a business vision and knew how to manage the market. Now, I wonder about the profit margins and the pricing, which will directly affect the customers,” said the system’s engineer with Infosys. He said Apple without Jobs is like Infosys without NR Narayana Murthy.

Others wonder if Apple will be able to churn out innovations in a way that Jobs would have. “We have to see if they will be able to… match Jobs,” said Ujjwal Mehta, a businessman, at an Apple store.

At the Apple store in UB City, a photograph of Jobs was put up at the entrance and fans were allowed to put sticky notes. One of them read: ‘iSad, iCry and in iTears, but we will never forget you.”

As Apple is now devoid of Jobs’s brilliance, some customers said they would compare the quality of the current products with the upcoming products. “I’ll have to check products after they release to know the difference,” said Gokul K, an IT professional from Chennai who was in the city. Vinay Kukke, an engineering student agrees. “The products had a personal touch, now we’ll have to see about that,” he said.

Shriya C, felt that Apple’s website on Thursday—whose home page had a large picture of Steve Jobs—was appropriate to show gratitude to the visionary.

“The business is as usual, in fact on the higher side. There have been a lot of enquires and people are curious as to why the store is not closed today,” said an Apple official on condition of anonymity.
