The state government has finally agreed to co-operate with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the illegal mining.

After inaugurating the Kannada portal developed by the Karnataka Knowledge Commission (KKC) on Saturday, chief minister BS Yeddyurappa told the media, “Central investigative teams follow their own methods of conducting investigations. It is our duty to co-operate with them  and we will do so.”

The issue of the CBI probe into the illegal mining cases in Karnataka will soon be discussed in the legislature.

“I will provide complete information on this issue in the Houses during the next session; no fact or information will be hidden. Our government places a great importance on transparency and we will discuss the mining issue in the Houses,” stated Yeddyurappa.
Recently, the central government had written to the state government offering all assistance, including a CBI probe, into the issue of illegal mining.

Replying to that letter, the chief minister had told the centre that there was no need to conduct a CBI inquiry. But on Saturday, the wheel had come a  full circle with Yeddyurappa promising all assistance to the CBI probe.
