Sri Rama Sene Chief Pramod Muthalik, arrested on charges of making inflammatory speeches during communal riots in Mysore and remanded to judicial custody till August 7 by a local court, was shifted from a jail here to Bellary prison due to security reasons today, police said.
The second Additional Chief Metropolitan Court yesterday remanded the chief of the right-wing outfit to judicial custody.
Muthalik (46) was arrested on Friday night from Belgaum for allegedly making speeches hurting the sentiments of a particular community during the Mysore communal clashes in the first week of June which left three persons dead.
On June 2, communal clashes broke out in Mysore over the alleged defiling of a madrassa.
Muthalik had alleged that his arrest was a conspiracy to throw a;; those who spoke up for Hindus in jail.
