Six vandals arrested in BK Nagar

Six persons were arrested in connection with the October 10 vandalism in BK Nagar, police said on Tuesday.

Police identified the accused as Navaz (26) and Riyaz (22), both residents of Sharif Nagar in Yeshwanthpur, Ravi alias Onte Ravi (22) of Hebbal, Kiran Ashok Rao (21), Kiran (19) and Ashok (20), all three residents of Yeshwanthpur.

The accused persons allegedly spread panic on the night of October 10 and caused damages to 15 vehicles parked in the area. They also damaged the glass windows of three shops.

Following the incident, the police had filed two separate cases. The accused persons were arrested from Hesaraghatta, police said, and added that the alleged vandals were under the influence of alcohol when they had gone on a rampage.

Detailing the incident, deputy commissioner of police HS Revanna said a rival gang had roughed up Syed Jameer, brother of the the main accused Nawaz earlier the same day. They had also assaulted Jammer’s colleague, Chandra.

The accused persons came to know of the incident while they were in a bar. On being informed that the attackers were from BK Nagar, the men rushed there and engaged in vandalism, police said.

Besides Nawaz, Riyaz was also related to Jameer, police said. Ravi and Riyaz were colleagues. Police said a car and two motorcycles were seized from the accused.
