A man was arrested for the November 2009 murder of his second wife, police said, adding that the accused committed uxoricide in a fit of rage after the woman had resisted his attempts for a physical relationship.

The accused, Madhuraj, alias Raju, alias Nanjudaswami, alias Yogi, was arrested on Monday from Tamil Nadu, where he had been hiding ever since the murder of Bhagya, a resident of Kogilu village. He used to live in Amrithahalli.

Police said Madhuraj slit the throat of Bhagya with a pair of pliers and stabbed her using a screwdriver at Kamakshipalya, following her refusal to have sex with him. He then left the city with all her belongings.

While confessing to the crime, he reportedly told the police that he had suspected her character.

Jayanthi, his first wife, separated from him after she had come to know of his infidelity. He later befriended three women, Manu, Komala and Radha, who also left him due to the same reason.
