Even as the BJP top brass turned down BS Yeddyurappa’s demand of reinstating him as chief minister, seers and heads of mutts from across the state advocated that he be made the chief minister again.

For Yeddyurappa’s birthday on Monday, seers poured in from across the state to bless him. Also, they appealed to the central leadership of the BJP to reward him with a suitable post.

Even Murugarajendra Swamiji of the powerful Chitradurga Muruga Mutt, who had remained neutral all these days, came out in support of Yeddyurappa. “Patience has a limit. Nobody should dare to test it again and again. Before it melts, soothing work has to begin,” said the seer.

He added that Yeddyurappa had enemies within his own party, and not in the opposition. He should concentrate on managing the situation. The internal strife should not harm the administration. It had to be dealt with urgently, the seer said.

Murugarajendra Swamiji said Yeddyurappa was more than a leader of just one community. “He is a mass leader. It does not matter whether he is in power or not, his welfare schemes have reached the masses,” he said.

Shivarudra Swami of Beli mutt regretted that Yeddyurappa had fallen because he lacked the manipulative skills of Chanakya. Basavaraj Pattadevru said: “Being the seer of a backward community, I can say he was the best chief minister in recent times.”
