The existence of illegal filter sand unit at Geddalahalli hints at a nexus between the sand mafia and the authorities as the latter allegedly knew about the illicit activity.
Inspector of Hennur police station, G Prabhakar, claimed that although he had informed the tahsildar of KR Puram, Shivakumar CL, about the activity, neither the tahsildar nor the revenue inspector came forward to lodge a complaint in this regard.
The inspector said he was ready to book a case if the authorities concerned were willing to lodge a complaint. ACP Narayanaswamy, said he had directed the circle inspector to conduct a raid on the illegal sand unit. He said the police would take strict action against the culprits.
