As part of its ongoing service to society, Rotary International District 3190 announced various initiatives in health, social, and educational sectors for the welfare of children from underprivileged sections, which is aimed at improving the overall quality of life. The initiatives will be officially launched at the 35th conference of Rotary District 3190 scheduled in the city on Saturday and Sunday.

“We will be spending at least Rs1 lakh on each child for chemotherapy and heart surgeries. We have tied up with leading hospitals for these health initiatives,” said S Nagendra, district governor, Rotary District 3190.

Rotary District 3190 also plans to distribute dictionaries (English-English-Kannada and English-Telugu) to one lakh children from various government schools. Several girls’ hostels managed by the government do not have proper power supply. This, in turn, will affect their studies. Rotary has also identified 106 such hostels.

Solar-powered lighting will be provided to ensure uninterrupted power supply during nights so that the girls can continue their studies without any hindrance.
