One of the worst enemies to the development of India — corruption — will have a hard time in the not-so-distant future, as the endeavour to eradicate corruption is moving forward on a massive scale in Bangalore.

Bangaloreans seem to be fed up and tired of corruption and have found a better way of tackling this evil by using the novel means left behind by Mahatma Gandhi, the satyagraha.

More than 2,000 people attended this satyagraha, which has the support of Baba Ramdev

On Saturday, the Freedom Park saw nearly 100 people joining Baba Ramdev in his hunger strike against corruption. Since 9 am, the satyagraha saw people flowing in to do their bit to bring a change in the system that is corrupt and to hold a mirror up to corrupt members of all the corrupt systems in India.

Bangalore was not the only city to see this kind of protest. Up north, Delhi has also started its Satyagraha to eradicate corruption. The enthusiasm of the people for this cause knew no age, religion, caste, gender. Children as young as five and elders in their 80s were seen staging their protest to bring a change in the corrupt system. The delegates of the event consisted of leaders representing different religions and groups.

Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Yog Samiti was not the only organisation to have taken active part in this protest. It even saw the RSS, Discover Islam Education Trust, Indian Muslim Forum for Peace and Harmony and ABVP show great enthusiasm to the cause.

Syed Shafiullah Sahib of the Indian Muslim Forum for Peace and Harmony called for unity among the citizens of India against corruption and gave a few instances on how India suffers due to corrupt activities in the nation.

Baba Ramdev said, “Money is required for all aspects of life these days. But money should not make us play around with it for one’s greed.” Speaking about the education system and the common mentality that most students have, Baba Ramdev said, “We want to get educated in this country and want to work for some other country. But if we use those skills and work for our country, India will progress.”
