Banglore: The Horamavu triple murder case took a new turn on Wednesday, with the police announcing the arrest of a city-based realtor.
Police said that the realtor, Ramesh (45) of Oil Mill Road, had paid Rs3 lakh to Lokesh alias Loki (24), another accused, to eliminate interior decorator Rahul Das.
According to investigators, Ramesh was taking revenge on Das. The accused allegedly had an affair with Das's wife Pushpalatha (38). Das, who came to know about the affair, had prevented the realtor from meeting his wife.
Besides Das, Pushpalatha and their 10-year-old daughter Agnisha were also allegedly killed by Lokesh and his two associates on October 20.
Lokesh, Murali (20), and Bhaskar alias Raju (25) were arrested on October 29. Ramesh was arrested based on the information they had provided during interrogation.
Reconstructing the series of incidents that led to the triple murder, Narasimhaiah said Das and his family had earlier stayed at a house rented from Ramesh at Banjara Layout in Horamavu in 2001. It was then that Ramesh established an intimate relationship with Pushpalatha.
They continued the relationship even after the couple shifted to another house, where Ramesh used to visit frequently. However, Das soon got wind of the illicit relationship and banned Ramesh from meeting Pushpalatha.
Spurned, an angry Ramesh plotted to eliminate Das, and with this intention met Lokesh, who had previously worked for the deceased.
"He used Lokesh, who had by then become a cab driver. Lokesh was a frequent visitor to Das' household. Ramesh promised to pay him for killing Das," assistant police commissioner N Narasimhaiah said, adding that Lokesh had confessed to receiving the money. Ramesh is now in judicial custody.
