Friday the 13th would have been the happiest day for Tirumala aka Padma, but for an unexpected guest who turned up at her wedding with V Anand.
The guest, who turned up along with her sister and a friend, was stopped by Anand’s relatives – leading to a scuffle.
Police later said that the guest, Priyanka (23), was Anand’s two-month pregnant girlfriend, who was living-in with him. He had allegedly cheated her with promises of marriage.
Anand’s relatives overpowered Priyanka and the two other women and evicted them from the KEB community hall in Rajajinagar, where the marriage was taking place. After that, the marriage programme went on as scheduled.
Priyanka lodged a complaint with the Rajajinagar police against Anand and his relatives, accusing them of assault.
Based on the complaint, Anand was taken into police custody. A case has been registered against Anand under Sections 493 (co-habitation by a man deceitfully inducing belief of lawful marriage), 506 (threat), 417 and 420 (cheating) of the IPC.
