Bangalore University vice-chancellor Dr N Prabhu Dev has clarified that he had no personal agenda in Monday’s developments involving the newly-appointed registrars Prof MS Talwar and Dr MG Krishnan.

In a press release, he said, “I would like to reiterate that I have no personal agenda. I am striving hard to work for the betterment of Bangalore University without any kind of bias.”

“Prof Krishnan was supposed to meet me at 10 am. However since he had some other engagement he could not make it at that time. I had a pre-scheduled meeting at 11.30am and that got over only at 2 pm and I immediately met both Talwar and Krishnan. I requested them to wait for the new government order which was expected shortly,” he explained in the release.

Meanwhile, the vice-chancellor is said to be involved in another controversy. Sources from the department of higher education told DNA that recently Dr Prabhu Dev had written to the principal secretary requesting him to sack syndicate member, AP Ranganath, for going to the media frequently. “We didn’t find the VC’s reason genuine and rejected the request,” confirmed a top official. There is nothing in the University Act that prevents a syndicate member from going before the media, he added.
