It was a day of protests with SBM circle (Mysore Bank circle) being the epicentre. Outfits as varied as AIDSO, CPI, CPI(M) and Samata Sainika Dala were out in the streets, but they all had one demand - disqualify the three ministers from their Assembly membership. They were not satisfied with mere resignations.

The CPI(M) members also pressed for the arrest of these ministers for viewing pornography in a public place (read assembly).

The police had a tough time as many of the protesters had not sought prior permission, as the news had broken out late on Tuesday evening. Initially protesters were not allowed to burn any effigies, but, when members of the CPI(M) defied it, they were bundled into apolice van. Later some other outfits too were bundled up by the police without much fight and some wound up their protests as they had completed their stipulated time allocated to them.

Apart from curious onlookers and a minor commotion, there was not much jam and traffic flow slowed down as it was peak hour.

The Gandhi statue near Anandarao circle too witnessed protests from two groups belonging to Congress. They displayed graphic posters depicting the three ministers in lewd costumes, which drew many eyeballs.

Youth Congress members sported facemasks and reenacted Tuesday’s controversial act in the assembly, much to the amusement of the onlookers.
