An 82-year-old man succumbed to injuries after being hit by door of a parked car on Kanakapura Main Road on Tuesday.

The deceased, Nathmal Jain, was a resident of Jayanagar. He was riding pillion with his grandson Chetan Kumar.

When they were on Kanakapura Main Road, near RNS Complex, the driver of a car parked by the roadside opened the car’s door without noticing the approaching motorcycle.

Chetan could not control the motorcycle and hit the car’s door and both fell on the road.

Jain sustained head injuries while Chetan sustained minor injuries.

Jain was rushed to a private hospital, where he died undergoing treatment. The car driver escaped along with the vehicle when the public rushed to help the injured.

The police noted down the car’s registration number from the witnesses and sent it to the RTO to trace the driver. The body was handed over to the family after postmortem on Wednesday.
