The Namma Bengaluru Foundation on Monday announced the opening of nominations for the ‘Namma Bengaluru Awards 2010’. Rajeev Chandrashekhar, MP and chairperson of the foundation and other jury members would decide the awardees.

“This is the second year we would be celebrating the living in the world city of Bangalore and recognise those who have contributed a lot in terms of their work to make others’ living better.

“This year, our goal is to expand the visibility to many more Bangaloreans so that the ones who are not influential and are of high status should only be recognised. Even a bus driver, an NGO or an unknown coach of some sport can be the award winner,” said Chandrashekhar.

The nominations open from December 1 and close on December 15. The Namma Bengaluru Foundation would shortlist the nominations by January 15, 2011 and the award function would be held on January 24.

In private, the nominees would be individuals, institutions, entrepreneurs, sportspersons, while in public - institutions, individuals and elected representatives working for the public.
