The three accused in the murder of Vizag-based jeweller Manoj Kumar Grandhi were taken into the police custody on Friday for further investigation.

The accused have been identified as KV Ravikumar, 26, of Singasandra and a native of Hassan, Shivakumar and Krishnegowda of Murugesh Palya and natives of Manakuppe village near Gubbi in Tumkur.

“We have taken them into our custody for further investigation,” deputy commissioner of police (north-east), BR Ravikanthegowda, said.

The police will take them to Nagamangala, where they had burnt the clothes and Grandhi’s three bags. The accused will also be taken to Charmadi Ghat in the Chikkamagalur district, where the decomposed body of Grandhi was found.
Mobile thrown in Ulsoor Lake
The investigations reveal that Ravikumar, who drove the car to the airport to prove that he had dropped Grandhi, had also taken the jeweller’s two mobile phones. He later damaged the phones and threw them into Ulsoor Lake.

“We came to know that Grandhi’s phones were thrown into Ulsoor Lake. We will retrieve them soon,” an investigating officer said.
Police said that the postmortem was held in Mudigere General Hospital on Thursday night and the body was handed over to Grandhi’s relatives. They took the body to Vizag on Friday.

The case may be transferred to the Sheshadripuram police station based on the place where the crime took place.
