Despite the high court granting a stay on the land acquisition near M Chinnaswamy Stadium earlier on Saturday, confusion reigned when Namma Metro went ahead with its demolition drive.
Metro officials were unaware of the stay and Karnataka State Cricket Association could not stop the Metro men since they were yet to get the copy of the court order.
As tension mounted, the police had to intervene and the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited decided to stop its work when the copy of court stay order was shown to them by the KSCA officials.
