Chief justice of Karnataka high court JS Khehar on Friday said that he would prefer the Ramjanmbhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute to be settled through mediation rather than in the court of law.
Delivering the valedictory address of the five-day mediation training programme for high court judges and senior advocates, he said, “I personally feel that such cases are better settled through mediation than in the court of law.”

The case is pending before the Supreme Court, which recently stayed the Allahabad high court ruling to divide the disputed site at Ayodhya into three parts. The chief justice said that several such high-profile cases could also be solved through mediation.
Eight judges of the high court and five senior advocates participated in the programme.

The participants would be handed over mediation certificates after they successfully settle 10 cases between litigants through mediations.
