Man burns wife, two children alive over dowry

An alcoholic man burnt alive his two little children and wife after dousing them with kerosene. The incident happened on Monday in Chikkamallapura village in Hanur, Kollegal taluk.

Mahadevaswamy married Sangeetha four years back and they had two children Madan, 2, and Mahendra, 1.  He started drinking recently and used to pick up fights with his wife over dowry. His mother Sarojamma too used such fights.

On Monday, he came home drunk at 2 am and demanded his wife to bring him more money from her home.  When Sangeeta expressed her helplessness, he doused her and their two children with kerosene and set them on fire. The three died before neighbours could come to rescue them.

Man commits suicide after injuring wife
Kasargod: A 62-year-old man allegedly committed suicide after hacking his wife, who was seriously injured, at Chayoth in the district on Monday, police said. MC Balakrishnan, a farmer, hacked his wife Narayanai and later hanged himself inside the house, police said. Narayani was rushed to a hospital at nearby Mangalore, police said.
