“Simple steps like ensuring that your fridge is not repeatedly opened can drastically bring down power consumption.”

This was what Ananya Garg, student of the Sadhu Vaswani International School for Girls, Delhi, and winner of the Energy Star title at the ‘Conserve My Campus’ national championship had to say on the ever-pertinent issue of energy conservation. Ananya had reportedly implemented these measures to effect a reduction of Rs10,000 from her family’s electricity bill, over a span of two months.

About 15 schools participated in the championship, aimed at making kids carry forward the energy conservation message.
Divya Jain of Ahlcon International School, Delhi, developed a prototype of an energy-efficient house – with fly-ash bricks and a water harvesting system – to emerge as the championship winner.
