Police investigating the murder of Ganganagar corporator
S Nataraj, who was hacked to death in Malleswaram on Saturday, said that it could take a week to arrest the culprits.

“We have a lot of clues related to the culprits who killed Nataraj,” said joint commissioner of police (crime) Pranab Mohanty, who is leading the investigation team.

Without ruling out other angles, the police said they are focusing on the Nataraj’s financial transactions in a property litigation case. It is believed that an amount of about `2 crore was paid to Nataraj. The money was invested in his finance business, said a senior police officer.

After becoming a corporator, Nataraj had identified some people who had violated building construction rules. The violators used to allegedly cough up money to the corporator to get a clean chit.
Sources said that the police are also looking at Nataraj’s love interest and political rivalry as possible motives for his murder.
The police have rounded up 20 rowdies to gather clues in the case.

The CCB police had recently raided the houses of most of the rowdies who are being interrogated. “The rowdies have given us a lot of information. But they are not directly involved in the case,” said a source.
