Karnataka unit JDS president and former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy today urged governor H R Bhardwaj to direct the government to institute an appropriate probe into illegal minings to save mineral and forest wealth.

Kumaraswamy during his 30-minute meeting with Bhardwaj brought to his notice the sufferings of people in flood-battered areas and the 'snail's pace' of relief works.

Speaking to reporters, he said JDS had an open mind in joining hands with Congress to defeat BJP in the coming election to 25 legislative council seats from local bodies.

"If Congress wants to fight against mal-administration of BJP, it is free to take a decision on a tie up. But Congress should not treat this offer as my party's weakness", he said.
