Three new traffic police stations will be set up by utilising the additional fund of Rs20 crore for better traffic management.

Additional commissioner of police MA Saleem said the department would install ‘video wall’ to monitor the  traffic movement online. The existing traffic automation centre used to manage the traffic will soon be shifted to a new building and the centre will be equipped with a ‘ video wall’ to enhance the performance of the traffic management online.

Earlier, it had several TV screens that had been divided into several segments, but with the video wall—which is 72-feet-high—the work of the traffic police will become easier. In addition, the traffic police are purchasing 70 new CCTVs, along with 300 BlackBerry sets. The department is also  planning to set up road signals and junction markings.

Six new fire stations in city
The department of fire and emergency has been allotted Rs25 crore in the budget and it plans to add six fire stations in and around the city. The department had proposed setting up 32 fire stations across the state, including six stations in Bangalore.

Director general of fire and emergency services, AR Infant, said: “We did not expect this. It is the first time the department has got this much allocation,” he said. The aim is to set up 32 stations and equip them with state-of-the-art technology on a priority basis, he said.

More uniforms
Policemen, especially constables, have a reason to smile as the state is considering their seven-month-old proposal to provide an additional set of uniforms. The home department had approached the finance department to sanction two sets of uniforms every year instead of four sets in three years.
