Karnataka Anti-Naxal Force plans 15 camps in infested areas

The department has requested the government to release Rs50 lakh for the purpose.

The Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) in the state is planning to set up 15 camps to keep a tab on the naxal-infested areas of the state.

According to additional director-general of police (internal security) Bipin Gopalakrishna, the department has requested the government to release Rs50 lakh for the purpose. The camp will provide the ANF quick access to the areas affected by naxal activities.

Neelam Achuta Rao, director general of police, rushed to the spot where the Naxals had killed ANF jawan Mahadev Mane along with the inspector general of police (Western range) Alok Mohan, DIG (ANF, Karkala) Alok Kumar and superintendent of  police (Dakshina Kannada) Labhu Ram.

He later paid respects to the slain jawan and placed a wreath on his mortal remains. Speaking to the media, Rao said, “We are on the trail of the naxalites who shot our jawan and we are sparing no efforts to bring them to book.”
