Sudeep happens to be the first Kannadiga to be inducted as an aerospace engineering officer with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).
This international educational township has a reason to celebrate and Madhava Kripa School in Manipal has Sudeep Sudhakar Salian, 26, to boast about. Sudeep happens to be the first Kannadiga to be inducted as an aerospace engineering officer with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).
Sudeep will work in a team of Boeing engineers, looking after the F-18 aircraft.His father, U Sudhakar Salian, an officer at the Syndicate Bank and mother Yashvanti S Salian, an associate professor of commerce at MGM College, Udupi, were in celebratory mood when DNA spoke to them.
“Sudeep was always a bright kid. Right from his days in Madhava Kripa, we had seen in him the unique qualities and left no stone unturned to equip him with knowledge and physical endurance. He also studied in MGM College, Udupi, where he completed his pre-university education,” said the parents.
Sudeep shaped his future on the foundation laid in these colleges. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Engineering, Mysore, before proceeding to Australia for his post-graduate degree in Product Development and Computational Fluid Dynamics from Deacon University.
He then became an Australian resident.In his years as a student, Sudeep not only excelled in academics, but was good at sports too. Athletics, swimming, basketball and badminton were some of the games he liked. When in SSLC, he had won the President’s medal for scout activities.
He began working as a design engineer in Australia. After five rounds of interviews, he was appointed the flying officer in the aerospace engineer department of RAAF.
“It is a nice role wherein I have to make technical decisions on engineering changes such as modifications to equipment, system safety and approval of structural repairs. The best part of the job is working with cutting-edge technology and continuing professional development over a wide spectrum,” Sudeep said in a statement sent to his alma mater.
