The Karnataka Knowledge Commission (KKC) has come out with a Kannada web portal which gives complete information about incidents happening in different fields in the state. It also provides information about what is happening across the world.

This portal was developed in association with the department of Kannada and Culture and the Kannada Development Authority.

“We can call it the Kannada wikipedia.  However, it is still under construction and currently we have uploaded only 150 pages. We will update it everyday,” said MK Sridhar, member secretary, Karnataka Knowledge Commission.

There would be information from the fields of education, general knowledge, sports, art, culture, agriculture, environment, technology, business and entertainment, added Sridhar.
“We have been working on the project since August. It took time because we had to upload so much information. Chief minister BS Yeddyurappa will be inaugurating the portal on December 5,” said Mukhya Manthri Chandru, chairman, Kannada Development Authority.

“The main intention of the portal is to provide the information in Kannada. A translation of the information is available in other languages as well. This is open to the public and they can also make suggestions,” Chandru added.

The chief minister will announce the logo of the portal during the inauguration on Saturday.
