In what could be interpreted as a veiled reference to the incident of two ministers caught watching a pornographic video in the assembly, Governor HR Bhardwaj on Wednesday said controlling the mind was the most difficult thing and one had to find a way to control it.
“Meditation, music, etc are known to provide rest to the mind,” he said.
Bhardwaj was speaking at the launch of ‘Between you and me: Meditation made simple’ by Shri Shri Nimishananda. “The mind is like a chariot run by wild horses,” he said. “It is only the one with ‘vivek’ (wisdom) who can ‘tame’ the mind.”
He advised people to turn to Indian scriptures whenever their mind was unsettled. “You do not need to refer to any external material, everything you need to know with regard to the mind is in the Gita,” he said.
But speaking on the sidelines of the event, the governor stayed clear of making any controversial comment.
“I have no authority to take action against the concerned ministers. It is every member of the House who has to make the decision and authorise the speaker to take the final call on the matter,” he said, adding that this was the normal procedure and the governor had no authority to interfere in the legislature. “They have sent in their resignations and the House will decide what action has to be taken,” he said.
