The wait is finally over. November 21 is here — the day the city will see its first ever 24-hour gaming party. Don’t expect a dance floor and disco lights, because the crowd will comprise gamers who will spend the whole time gaming and meeting fellow gamers while picking up a trick or two.
The event, known as BYOC, stands for Bring Your Own Computer and gamers attending are expected to do just that — carry their ‘rigs’ (gamers affectionately call their PCs rigs).
Organised in Delhi eight times in the last two years — one every quarter —this is the first time the event is being organised in three cities apart from Delhi. In Mumbai last week, around 350 gamers turned up for the event, while Delhi saw close to 1,500 gamers LAN- gaming.
“Participants can play any game they want. We’ll provide LAN and power connection. Those who find it inconvenient to carry their PC can rent one at the venue. It’ll cost them Rs500 for the 24-hour duration,” says Ashish Gupta, organiser of the event and director of Xtreme Gaming.
“The first BYOC was organised in November 2007 in Delhi where 67 people participated. Bangalore, being a tech-city, we are expecting a lot of gamers to turn up— at least 500,” he says.
There willbe a special section for console gamers where their consoles can be hooked up to huge LCD screens. City-based gaming lounge Consoul will be renting out Xbox360s to interested gamers. Now, does that egg you on?
