The sleuths of the Woman and Narcotics Wing of Central Crime Branch (CCB) nabbed a 31-year-old Iranian for supplying drugs and psychotropic substances to people in the city.

According to the police, Saeidi Mozhdeh Ehsan has been staying in Bhoopasandra. The police seized drugs worth Rs5 lakh, including 65 grams of magic mushroom, 110 grams of opium, 90 grams of charas, seven grams of cocaine, three kg marijuana, 10 ecstasy tablets , 10 syringes, three mobile phones and cash worth Rs690 from him.

Assistant commissioner of police SV Gulled said: “Ehsan is part of an inter-state drug racket and used to smuggle drugs from Goa to supply to his clients.”

Ehsan came to India in 2005 on a student visa and studied at prestigious private colleges. He continued to stay in Bangalore though his visa expired in June 2012.
“Ehsan built his own network in the city and was contacting them over phone. He was selling drugs near star hotels, parks, colleges and bars and restaurants to customers, including foreign nationals, techies, students, businessmen and women who paid him as much as he demanded. He managed to bring bags containing drugs to Bangalore by bus as there is no proper checking at bus stations,” he said.

A team of police officials raided a house in Vinayaka Layout in Bhoopasandra where Ehsan was stating. Students from different parts of the country, especially from the northeastern region, have been staying in the house.

When the police team rounded up the students, including Ehsan and whisked them away without informing the reason for the detention, the northeastern students residing in the house panicked and started packing things to vacate the premises. However, a few of them contacted a nodal officer over phone and narrated the incident.

Five students who are not connected to the case and were detained were released after the nodal officer intervened.
