Banglore: Intermittent spells of drizzle sent mercury into a tailspin in the city on Saturday. Dense clouds started accumulating around the noon and the skies threatened to open up any moment. But what followed was only intermittent spells of drizzle which continued late into the night.

Indian Meteorological Department attributed the cooling showers to a turf of low pressure area over Thiruvanantapuram region.

Met officials said the spell was likely continue over the next three days. The minimum temperature is expected to go down further.

Both the city and the HAL airport had received 3.6 mm of rainfall up to 10 pm on Saturday. The Met officials said that intermittent drizzle over the next couple of days in the city might turn into a downpour at times.

The rainfall the city is witnessing is part of the North-East monsoon showers. During this time of the year, most parts of south-interior Karnataka and coastal areas would experience heavy thundershowers. The minimum temperature in the city was 20 degree Celsius, while the maximum was 23 degree Celsius. The corresponding temperatures at the HAL airport was 18.4 degree Celsius and 23.7 degree Celsius.
