Bangalore: Five months after IAF personnel shot and injured a person for trying to cut trees in the Jalahalli Air Force Station premises, a similar incident occurred at the same place early on Friday morning. Gangammanagudi police have arrested two persons, Raviyappa (45) and Reddiyappa (40), who were injured in a clash with IAF personnel after they were caught choppingsandalwood trees. A search is on for two other offenders.

Police said that some IAF personnel were patrolling the area around 1.45am on Friday, when they found fourmen cutting down trees. However, when they asked the culprits to surrender, the latter showed no signs ofbacking down.

Finally, the IAF personnel had no choice but to shoot at them. While Raviyappa was hit by a bullet in the thigh, Reddiyappa was hurt when he accidentally rammed his head against a tree. Later, police took the two into custody and rushed them to a hospital. The accused, both residents of V Kote in Andhra Pradesh, are said to be out of danger.
